WHY: Raise Awareness & Money for the Iconic 1978 Dallas City Hall

BIOS:

Christopher González is Professor and Chair of English at Southern Methodist University, where he holds the Jacob and Frances Sanger Mossiker Endowed Chair and serves as President of MELUS (the Society for the Study of the Multi-Ethnic Literature of the United States). His scholarship on speculative cinema includes “Galactic Herencia: Latinos in the STAR WARS Universe” (University of Arizona Press, forthcoming) and the book-in-progress “Speculative Permissibilities: Latinidad and the Fantastic in U.S. Cinema.” He approaches ROBOCOP as an occasion to think about how speculative storytelling stages urban architecture, the cyborg body, disposable cities, and corporate power—questions the Dallas City Hall puts directly into the civic frame.

Yolonda Williams has a diverse career in stage, film and television. After graduating from the Booker T. Washington High School of Performing & Visual Arts, Yolonda made her professional film debut as Officer Ramirez in ROBOCOP.  Her other recognizable work on TV is “Friday Night Lights” and the blues documentary, CAN’T YOU HEAR THE WIND HOWL: THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF ROBERT JOHNSON. Yolonda is currently the host of “Fun on the Run,” which airs weekdays at 3 pm on CW33 in DFW.
